Comments:

Retired from Exelis Corp, formerly ITT Space Systems, seven years and 32 years from Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester.
After 2 years at CCC, drafted into the Army. Enlisted and after training, was sent to Hawaii to a duty station. Irene and I married and lived in Hololulu. Discharged in '71. I love being around my seven grandkids. I have found the hobby of genealogy. I spend a lot of time researching our family lines back to 1405. Took two years to verify data. Neat stuff.
Grandson Owen, lost his mother to brain vein bursting. Sad. "O" recovering slowly but well. My D.I.L. was great.

School Story:

Time fades a lot of memories; however, there is nothing about HHS that has faded. I always thought I had great teachers, great school, great town and all that goes with it. The deaths of friends during that time still stings a bit; however, as long as we can remember their lives, that helps.
A teacher "saved my life." Mrs. Kennedy taught me to type when a Senior. I thought it would help if I went to college. Well, I was drafted into the U.S. Army and when tested, they told me my typing ability would almost demand an office position. They were correct. I served at the U.S. Army Pacific Headquarters in Honolulu, Hawaii. No Infantry, no war, just beaches on time off from duty. Ran into Mrs. Kenndey's son in Brockport, NY and praised her for "saving my life.' I would not have made a good infantryman.

I completely forgot to mention you and your Hubby's difficulties. I have discovered as well the act of falling over for no reason. I have cought myself, telling me to exercise more caution now while walking, etc. Being 75 now has its cautions built in, that we sometimes will forget!

Hi Suzanne! Here we are in Spring time 2024. I drove by R.I.T. the other day and boom...you came to mind again! I hope all is well with you and Jesse. Our grandkids are getting older now with a great deal more to do than bother with us; however, they still join us once in a while. Our first son turned 21 and since we are both 75, we are officially OLD. but fortunatly all is well.
Best wishes for good times!
Bob

I wondered if I told you about this piece of my family history here in Monroe County...
We moved to Hamlin only a couple of years in Rochester after Army duty. All four of our sons went to Brockport Central Schools.
When our first son (Mark) started Brockport Junior High I looked at the names of the teachers and principal.
Bingo...The principal of the Junjior High at that time was Wilson Buddle.
Do you recognize that name?
He was a 9th grade (my class!!) English teacher at Horseheads Junior High ((th grade building).
When the first open house at the school occured, I took our 9th grade year book to the get together. Irene and I were walking up to the front door stairs with me carrying the year book so it could be seen fairly well. Mr. Buddle looked at us and had an imense smile on his face. He was the teacher who oversaw the books development and publishing. He recognized me and after he said "Hello" he mentioned that he saw our son's name on his listing. It was and still is a memory I will not forget. All four of our sons went to his school.
Mr. Buddle is still living in Brockport. I thought I'd let you know (possibly again!)

Happy Birthday Anita! I still chuckle when I think of when I first met you. That was 8th grade September 1961 when we were in 8th grade, 62 years ago, my first school day after moving Upstate from Brooklyn. Best wishes!!

Hi Suzanne! I was talking with my sons the other night about their running into people they knew "way back when" (high school) and I mentioned the time I ran into you at Rochester Insititute of Technology. That was near 50 years ago now! A whole new life started then. I had been out of the Army for just a couple of years and by then two of our four sons! Now we prepare, still for the future. Our first grandson turns 21 in his third year at Charleston College this year. His brother just graduated from high school and will be going to Clemson. The three other sons kids are still teen and lower. The fact of having our first "ADULT" means quite a bit.
I wonder sometimes if our It would be nice to see how we are all doing.
I am hoping all is well with you and your Hubby. I have a brand new shoulder (arthritis) and am so pleased with the results. Irene is still super and we both will turn 75 this fall.

Wondering about Bob Stamp.  If I recall correcty, He left for the Army the same day in 1968 for Basic Training.  I sat next to him on the bus to Syracuse and the plane to New Jersey for Fort Dix.  I never heard about him since; except for the possibility of his death.  I don't remember if it was Viet Nam or older and out of the service.  Perhaps there is a classmate of his who could fill me in.

Thanks--Bob Goodwin Class of '66

I see you were Navy. I was Army, drafted in '68. Signed for a third year and was suggested for the training guaranteed by Signal School. My entire class was sent to Hawaii for distribution to Pacific stations (Japan etc.) Most went to Viet Nam. I had orders for there but was called down to turn back the orders. Because my clearence came in before the others, I filled a slot 10 miles from Schofield Barracks at Fort Shafter, Honolulu.
I spent two and a half years there. I tried for Navy at draft notice; however, they had reached their quota for the month so I signed with the Army. It was a good choice anyway, since my training yielded my forty years at Kodak in Rochester.
Thanks for taking over admin of the site...

Did you know that Bill O'Brien's wife Sharon Wood died a week or so ago? I thought I sent a note to Suzie but I haven't seen an announcement...

Been a while, Ron; how are you doing? All's well in Rochester in my clan! I did have shoulder surgery recently. It was replaced due to severe arthritis. NO MORE PAIN!! Happy about that. Definately showing my age because our oldest grandson is now 20. He is at Charleston College in South Carolina. Next grand graduates from High School this year.

Ii was thinking of Horseheads yesterday. My one of my grandsons was asking about it. Funny that only after a few seconds,I thought of you. I first met you when we rented the apartment next door to you for a few months in 1961. That was 61 years ago. A lot has happened but Horseheads never has given me bad feelings. We live in Rochester, so I can still drive through and "check out" the place. I alway chuckle about it since ;my relatives were all in Brooklyn, NY (dad was a Detective in the NYPD, many family there). My cousins always poked fun at HHds but we had always come there to visit my great aunt on Center Street. I loved Upstate all my life and had been able to change my cousins minds when they became adults. Since ROC is so close I can still feel good about Hhds. Hope all 9s well with you and yours...

Ah sooo, your birthday! Today is Irene's birthday as well. I am stuck not able to get out since I had shoulder replacement surgery; so delayed greetings!
I don't like the idea of a titanium shoulder and all the etceteras, but I no longer hurt! Back out very soon after therapy assistance. Been a long time, Dick. Again Happy Birthday a bit late!
